“Wednesday I went to John O’Groats – a beautiful run up the East coast. I was surprised at John O Groats to see a beautiful sandy beach. It was a perfect sunny day, and the colours were beautiful – the bright blue sea, the red cliffs of the Orkneys just over the water, the white sand and white cottages, hundreds of which are dotted about the moors up there. It was quite a thrill to go by “Dornoch and Skelbo”, Golspie and Ben Braghie, The Dornoch Firth is beautiful, and Bonar Bridge nestles in it. Met some jolly friends on the trip.”
