The “grandest part of the trip” continues … Loch after Loch!

“We drove within sight of Ben Nevis as we went through Fort William, snow capped, and the high mountains up here have been in patches, and clouded. Then past the beautiful lochs of the Caledonian Canal to Inverness. Thence over moors to Aberdeen, where relations took possession of me, and I had to leave the party.

I can’t tell you how wonderful the lochs are – we thought England was beautiful, lovely, but now it’s tame after seeing Scotland. Now we can only say England was pretty – but Scotland is grand and magnificent. We all, even the Indians, fell for it in a big way.”
