Stratford Upon Avon – 3/4 June

“…on to Stratford Upon Avon. We went past Shakespeare’s birthplace, found accommodation then out for walk. It’s a very quaint English town and the river is beautiful. We went for another ride in a little boat. We saw only the outside of the Memorial Theatre – the only way in is to attend a performance. It’s right in the heart of the town. We walked out to the beautiful Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried, just along the river a bit from the theatre. Next morning we explored the shops for post-cards and souvenirs, then went back to the church to see Shakespeare’s grave inside, and set off for Manchester. I can’t attempt to describe the beautiful country through which we passed the whole way – everything blooming, pink and white hawthorn, pink and white chestnuts, trees from yellow green to red copper beeches, and green grass everywhere and yellow buttercups”.
